Where To Buy Your iPad – Apple or Elsewhere?
With any new hi-tech gadget the temptation can be to look anywhere but an official outlet for the product. We all want to feel like we are getting a bargain, but is it really worth it? Well, I would argue no and I will tell you why.
If you buy from Apple and say the worst happens, i.e. your iPad breaks within a couple of hours opening the box, you will be able to go to Apple and sort this issue out. It may be a completely different ball game with someone selling on eBay. So, you may save some money, but in the long run it could cost you so much more. Stick with Apple.

Wi-Fi or 3G
Whether you buy the 3G model or the Wi-Fi model largely depends upon where you intend to use your iPad. If you are going to be using it mostly at home, then stick with the Wi-Fi version. If however, you will be using it in transit or in places away from home as well as at home, then you would be better considering the 3G version.

For this type of gadgets, it’s highly advisable to buy at the manufacturer’s store. You can be assured that the product is brand new and not refurbished. Aside from that, the gadget comes with a manufacturer’s warranty which is greatly beneficial in the buyer’s end.
You are right Veronica. Although it might be a little bit expensive buying from the manufacturer’s store but it’s worth it. Thanks for the comment.
Apple products are extra expensive here and my gf wants a macbook air, so I was thinking to pick one up at the apple store in Hong Kong as the prices are much lower there. It will be from an official Apple store but if it breaks down, can I bring it to any apple store? or do I have to go back to the one I bought it from and does it have to be in the same country?
I’m not sure about that Danny, I think it’s better to confirm this with the store which you’re going to buy the gadget from. But logically, if you buy Apple’s product from another country and you were to look for help once you’re back home, I’m sure they’ll still provide you with some assistance but it might incurred some fees or service charge. My advice is to buy from your local Apple store, if in case there’s a break down, you can easily bring it back to the store. The price buying from your local store might be expensive but it’s worth it. That’s what I think.
Ok, thanks. I’ll ask them and see what service they offer.
It’s not just a bit cheaper it’s actually 300 dollars cheaper to buy it from apple in hongkong than to buy it in mainland China.
Wow! $300 difference? No wonder you’re grumbling 🙂
