Have you heard of Fiverr.com? Fiverr.com is a website that gives you the opportunity to sell or buy a service for $5. In their own words – The place for people to share things they’re willing to do for $5.
Have you tried Fiverr.com? Was it successful or other wise? Tell us in the comments.
Services are called Gigs and are announced in the format ‘I will________for $5’. A seller will be paid $4 for each completed gig and Fiverr.com keeps $1 as service charge.
There are Gigs such as ” I will show you how to fix a slow computer for $5″, “I will jailbreak iPad, iPhone and iPod for $5”, “I will create a cartoon avatar for $5”, or some bizarre Gigs like “I will write or design anything on my feet and send you the pictures for $5”, “I will text with your boyfriend to see if he would cheat on you for $5” and the list goes on.
How To Sell on Fiverr.com
You will first have to create a Gig for a small service you are willing to offer. Next you publish or share your gig with the world. If someone ordered your gig, you’ll be notified and asked to accept it. After 48 hours of successfully delivering your work, Fiverr.com will credit your account with $4. You can then withdraw the money to your PayPal account.
There’s a green color sidebar on the right for sellers to do some market research on what type of gigs are popularly requested.
Rest assured that there will be orders if the services that you are providing are unique and attractive.
Competition will be high as this is worldwide!
How To Buy on Fiverr.com
Look for a Gig that you like and place your order. Next, use PayPal or credit card to make the payment of $5. After payment has been made, you can track your seller’s work progress, exchange files and communicate. You will get your finished work once it has been completed and you will then have 48 hours after work delivery to ask for fixes from the seller. Finally, leave your feedback and review.
Personally I think that this is a good concept as you don’t have to ask “How much?” when looking at an advertisement. This could be the right place for you if you would like to make some money online by selling services or buying a service for $5. Check out Fiverr.com.

What do you think about Fiverr.com? Let us know in the comments.
I really love the Fiverr.com concept, but a bit afraid to go ahead, you could have shared a video ? As thing online are a bit secured and we need to have practice vision.
Fiverr.com is very secure, it's like buying or selling on eBay. Although the idea of a video is great, I don't think it would be of much help here. Thanks for the comment.
Fiverr sounds like a good place to find and offer micro-jobs…. definitely worth checking out. Judging from your description, it even works better than Microworkers.
Microworkers is kind of an interesting place too I must say. Thanks for dropping by teecup 🙂
I am regular user of fiverr and it is very useful. But there are lot of low quality gigs as well. Finding good gigs from thousands of gigs is the most difficult process.
My recent post Nokia Asha 300 – Fast & Affordable 3G Touch Phone
I supposed you are using fiverr as a buyer Rojish? Could you elaborate more on what do you mean by low quality gigs? Are you referring to the quality of the completed jobs done or the odd and bizarre gigs that are being offered? Thanks for the comment 🙂
I have a bad experience with fiver. Look like they can edit description. Simply waste of money.
I'm sorry to hear that you had had a bad experience with fiverr. However, I think it's unfair to blame them as they are only a platform that provide the service. Maybe you had a bad deal with a particular seller but that doesn't mean that fiverr is no good. It is like buying an item from a seller on eBay, later you received the item which is not as described. That's the seller's fault, not eBay. Thanks for the comment 🙂
I just rejected a delivered work. Maybe you are right, is my bad luck to deal with such a bad seller.
Leave your feedback and review so that others are aware of that seller.
Fiverr is indeed a good marketplace if you want to make an extra cash. Most of the time i sell Logos and if you’re artistic, you can make a lot of money from it. You just have to post an example of your previous work and more gigs will fall into your lap.
Hope you are doing well on fiverr Veronica 🙂
My fiverr account has been banned due to PayPal on hold my payment to fiverr for unusual activity. In fact, the payment is legit and I already contact PayPal, but still no response for 24 hours over now. I also contact fiverr, but they do nothing. Do you think open another new fiverr will be more faster or I should wait PayPal to rectify this situation?
Tan,
I don’t know why Fiverr would have done that, I personally never had any problem with them so far. I’m not sure if open another account would be appropriate, you might want to investigate further on that. My experience with PayPal also tells me that you should probably wait for PayPal to respond as well.
Finally, my fiverr account has been reinstate after I send 2 emails to PayPal. By the way, PayPal never response to me, they just close the dispute case after my request. Look like they need to improve their customer service skills. Fiverr also have internal communication problem, they send email notice me regarding the dispute case has been resolved, but at the same time my account still block until I inform them in my support ticket.
Well I’m glad you’ve managed to get it resolved Tan.
I’ve used Fiverr a couple times for some SEO for my website. It’s a great way to test outsourcing without a major financial commitment. I think there’s plenty of good gigs for sale there you just have to research the reviews before you buy. In the end it’s only 5 bucks you end up losing if someone doesn’t follow through. No biggie.
Any good sellers on fiverr that you would recommend for doing SEO jobs? I would appreciate the recommendation John.
Yes me too!
There are so many people offering seo that it is hard to figure out who is good and who isn’t.
I’m actually in the middle of one right now. The seller finished it earlier than scheduled but when I checked his work I noticed that he put a space behind my url making it go to a non existing page. And he hasn’t responded to my message yet. If he doesn’t respond before tonight I will give him a bad rating. Luckily the worst that can happen is you waste $5 haha
if the seller does not response to you, youmay also report to fiverr and they will take action.
Thanks for the tip. I worked it out with the seller. He/she didn’t get a notification of my response, and after I gave the bad rating he/she told me he or she was going to fix it and 2 hours later I got a fixed version and I am totally satisfied, so I changed my feedback. worked out very well 🙂
Oic, I never know review/feedback can be change/modify.
It’s interesting read about fiverr features. Browsing the offerings, one thing is clear that there are talented people out there who can do diversified jobs quickly and in a professional way.
Have you tried using fiverr George? Personally, I like to use it to look for some designing gigs. Not bad for a $5 🙂
To modify your wordpress theme or logo?
No Tan. It has nothing to do with my WP theme or blog logo. Just some other personal things 🙂
Fiverr is really a nice place, I also used it for some services, but one thing we need to take care of is a lot of spam.Make sure to check proper feedback to whom you are going to lend your work. Otherwise there are alot of offers there which worth your $5.
That’s right. Read the seller’s ratings first before buying. Thanks for the comment Trung.
Read user review especially negative review then analysis if the review make sense.
Tan, I guess if next time there’re comments for this post, I can just leave them to you. Deal? 😛 😛 😛
No lah, this is your blog. I should respect you, I am just a guest. haha 🙂
I just started using fiverr and I have to say that I’m a tadbit skeptic… I’m selling some writings and I’m not sure how the whole sending is supposed to be done. Could you help me with that? I don’t know how to send my work…
There’s a “add a file attachment” feature below the conversation box between you and the buyer. Just save your writings in word format, attach and send them over.
I’ve registered in Fiverr.com, but i can’t be logged in. a verification has been sent to my email. but i can’t see it. can you solve my problem?
I suggest you contact fiverr directly to inform them of your problem Budy.
I had a bad experience with fiverr.com
After buying maybe 50 gigs over about a month, and telling a bunch of mates about it, they cancelled my account without even a courtesy email.
I appreciate the gigs are ‘only’ $5 each, but if this is how they treat ‘power buyers’ then good luck to them.
They were not dodgey purchases, they were things like artwork, videos, etc.
I sent them an email via their support (as it just said ‘Account cancelled’ when I tried to log in) and they told me “Your account will not be reinstated”.
How rude.
My guess is that as I am on vacation in the Philippines my dialup (USB stick) goes through a shared flagged IP – but what is wrong with sending an email? It could even be automatic!
And why not actually try and be polite when answering an email.
They have loads of sellers in the Philippines so would have to warn them (and anyone else who connects via a USB stick) to be very very careful and consider selling their services somewhere else.
I still can’t believe how rude they were to someone who has only *given them money*!! I’ve never even sold anything on there, I’m still amazed by their terrible service.
I feel sorry for what you had experienced with fiverr. I heard that there were many such incidents happened to other buyers as well due to some reasons. Even if they think your account is on some kind of a risk problem they should at least send you a courtesy email. Terminating an account without informing the user is pretty unprofessional in my opinion! Well I’m sure there are many options out there better than fiverr for you to spend your cash Jim 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
thanks for this tutorial, guys! i was looking for a tutorial to sell at fiverr.com,but now i find the site that containt it. 🙂
I have the same problem as Budy so i guess I’ll contact them directly and see what the issue is.
I have friends who are using fiverr to buy social links but I’m still a bit sceptical about whether this helps or hinders a website. It might be skewing the results slightly and Google may not like this in the future.
Crowd sourcing sites like mturk and fiverr are a great deal especially for me. Even people with half brain are excelling. How? Mostly people make some (like 20 or 50 etc) videos convincing enough and then upload them to youtube. Now as you know youtube is always crowded of people, we can get plenty of clients, all on autopilot, for long period.
Apart from that,CPA (cost per action) has worked very well for me. For example, CJ, Max bounty etc have offers where people only have to fill a short form about any product and you get money for that.
Great post. Fiverr is good introduction to marketing services online (for sellers) and a great outsourcing resource (for buyers). It’s important to understand the types of gigs that work well on Fiverr, both from a buyer’s and seller’s viewpoint. Thinking outside the box is also important to make Fiverr profitable.
It has been my experience that Fiverr is OK if you want to purchase something, such as SEO services, at a very reasonable price to test your website, or test the market. As far as selling on Fiverr, it is very difficult to make it work. Fiverr seems to have its own inner circle, and it is hard to become a part of it. For example, I tried to submit a video for a gig that I listed, and it was rejected because they claimed I did not include the phrase, “Offered exclusively on Fiverr.” I did, but it was at the end of the video, so I changed it and placed it at the beginning, and it was rejected two more times for the same reason. Considering that you only receive $4 for each sale, if any, it is not worth the hassle, and your efforts are much better spent elsewhere.
Fiverr is not suitable for everyone for earning money.Basically I would say Fiverr is Buyer’s Oriented. You get only 4$ after working so hard , but I know it gets increased later but still it takes one heck a lot of an effort.
Also it is very difficult to get sales, because the competition on Fiverr is very tough. There are already great people who are providing great services just for 5 bucks.
I won’t recommend Fiverr until you don’t have any unique gig to offer or if you are really good at something which you can offer.
Thanks for writing about fiverr 🙂
