If there is one thing that the volatile economy can say with absolute certainty, is that commerce is moving online at a rapid pace with no signs of slowing down. People who purchase things online find it to be much less expensive and much more convenient than having to run around to various retail stores trying to find things the old school way. This is especially convenient for large ticket items such as appliances and computers. Finding a computer online rather than off-line can prove to be a much more time and cost efficient way to get yourself online.
What are the benefits of buying computers online? Tell us in the comments.
More Convenient
Instead of having to worry about the current inventory of the store and deal with popular computer models that might not be in stock, you can essentially give yourself inventory of the entire world by simply going online instead of walking to a retail store to buy a new computer. If one website does not have a computer that you want, you can simply click over to the next website and get the computer that you need immediately and without delay.
Easy to Compare
Another advantage of getting a computer online is the ability to easily compare all different types of computers without having to ask a salesman, who obviously has a vested interest in playing up more expensive computer models over others. As you will find, it is not always the most expensive computer that gets the job done – but the computer with the specifications that you need for your particular use.

Get Exactly What You Need
You will also find that the ability to get a computer up to your standard is much easier online than it is at a retail store. Most of the time, retail stores do not have information technology specialists in-house, and so if you want something placed on your computer, you either have to pay a third party extra money to do so or wait while the retail store does it for you. This is added money and added time that need not be wasted on this process. Many online stores offer much more flexibility when it comes to specification. You are able to get the computer that you need exactly, on time and without voiding the warranty by installing a software program from a third-party.
Less Expensive
Of course, the nuance that most people are concerned about is price. You will be happy to know that many people find that buying a computer online is actually much less expensive than buying one at a retail store. When a computer is bought online, a company saves the money of inventory and overhead, and passes those savings along to the customer. This has a definite positive effect on the price of computers, and the savvy customer will definitely take advantage.

Would you buy computers online? Do you think buying computers online is less expensive than buying at a retail store? Share your thoughts here.
Nah. Computers are old school. I mean I’m typing this on my iPhone 4s as I speak. :p.
Besides…I’m probably sure FedEx will have destroyed the computer by the time it gets there.
Got yourself a new toy (iPhone 4s) Brad? 🙂
Not sure how true was it with your opinion on FedEx but I think it shouldn’t be that bad… 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
With the developing and improving technology and society nowadays, we will now be able to buy online because everything we need can already be bought using the computer. This is really an eye opening post for those people who do not know that everything is already in the internet. But of course, there are also great benefits for people who prefer the traditional way of buying items.
Traditional way of shopping is kinda fun to most modern ladies out there isn’t it Liane? In fact is a hobby to some 🙂
shopping through the internet is not so costly but the aspect that is will almost dry up your pocket is the shipping aspect. This is what I have been doing and I know what it means. The only reason I keep doing it is because of the first point in this article and that is enough.
Thanks for sharing this
I understand your point. High shipping charges are one of the reasons that stop certain people from purchasing online. But to some people, especially those who live in big cities, they ‘re willing to pay for the expensive shipping cost just to avoid the stress of going out, driving, traffic jams, big crowd and etc. Convenient does come with a price I guess. thanks for sharing your thoughts Odesanya.
Oh.. but still I would love to go to the market n buy stuffs out there… you can bargain well in the market! 😀
I guess that’s one of the advantages of traditional shopping isn’t it Zainil? 🙂
There are some stores out there that have computer sales people that swarm you as soon as they see you like a car salesman. One store I visit occasionally they do this at anyway. It is so annoying that I tell myself I would rather just shop online and not have to deal with it. The only drawback to online shopping is if it is broken or defective it is a bit more hassle to return it for a replacement or your money back.
That’s right! And you thought you’ve become a movie star or some sort that fans suddenly swarm you asking for autograph 🙂 Thanks for passing by Ray.
The good is you can compare spec easily. The bad is you can’t hands on.
LOL.. I know a lot people still prefer to have a feel and touch the product directly. 🙂 Thanks for commenting Tan.
Actually, I bought my laptop online from a big D brand a few years back. But I am not conform to buy handphone online when consider to customer service or warranty issue.
Why is that Tan? What make such a difference between the customer service of the laptop and that of the handphone?
Because D brand provide onside support, but if buy handphone online how going to provide support if there where any issue? 🙂
I had my own laptop and PC at home and I’m happy with them already. I’ve bought both of them in local computer shops in the city. But I do have plans to buy a new one since my PC has some problems already, so I’ll try to buy it with a “CLICK”.
Dan Lew
Hope everything goes well with the purchase via a “CLICK” :). Thanks for sharing your thoughts Dan.
Both with buying a computer in a store and online, make sure that when you think you buy the same computer somewhere else cheaper that it has the same things inside. Sometimes they sell a computer cheaper somewhere else but they have an older model processor inside or a smaller hdd, stuff like that. So make sure when you compare that you look closely to what’s inside.
I personally do most my electronics shopping online. And I’ve never had any problem with delivery, nothing broken or anything.
Thanks for the addition Danny 🙂
best of all you don’t get the spotty sales assistant trying to sell you the extended warrenties for rediculess prices
🙂 Yeah I know.
Online shopping has always been convenient and inexpensive. However, I am not sure how safe it is to buy a computer online. What I usually do is search for the best type, brand, or specs and find it in physical stores. But maybe it still depends on the online store or online seller. Before buying a computer, make sure that you understand their terms like warranties, shipments, return policy, etc.
