If you are unsure on how to use your Amazon Kindle device, the following steps should prove helpful to you.
Having Your Kindle Device Be Recognized By Your Computer
You should plug your Kindle using its USB cable into an available USB port on your desktop or laptop computer. It will take a few seconds for your computer to recognize the Kindle device.
Powering Up Your Kindle Device
If you are just using your Amazon Kindle for the very first time, you should allow your Kindle to charge for an hour or two before you begin using it to read books, newspapers, and other media. You should allow the Kindle to charge up to at least between 25 to 50 percent of full capacity.
Preparing Your Kindle Device To Be Ready For Reading Use
At this point, you should move the “Power” switch up to turn on the Kindle device. First, press “Home,” then press “Menu.” Navigate down to “Settings” and press the middle of the Navigation wheel in order to open the “Settings” menu. Scroll down until you find the network that you want to connect to, then press the middle of the Navigation wheel. Enter the “Wi-Fi” password, then press the middle of the Navigation wheel in order to accept the password.
Registering Your Kindle Device
Registering your Kindle device is highly recommended, as this will ensure that it is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty in the event that it ceases to function properly. You can register your Kindle device by opening “Settings,” then choosing “Register.” Select “Sign Up” to sign up for a new account, or just input your Amazon account information if you already have an account set up. Press “Register” in order to complete the registration process.
Choosing And Purchasing Books To Read On Your Amazon Kindle Device
Press the “Menu” button, then highlight and select “Shop in Kindle Store” to see books that you can purchase to read on your Amazon Kindle device. You can browse books either by category or by Kindle top sellers. Select a book you would like to purchase, then press the “Buy” button.
Opening And Reading A Purchased Book On Your Amazon Kindle Device
Once you have purchased your chosen book, press the “Menu” button, then select “My Library.” Select the book you wish to read and click onto it. Once you have opened the book, press the “Next” button to advance to the next page or press the “Prev” button to return to the previous page. You do not have to worry about bookmarking the place where you stop, as Kindle does this automatically, enabling you to easily pick up where you left off.
Ensuring You Don’t Overcharge Your Kindle Device
Once the Amazon Kindle device is fully charged, make sure to unplug its USB cable, as overcharging can lead to a decline in the long-term life of your battery.
By following the steps above, you will be able to enjoy your favorite books, magazines, and other media (such as Wikipedia) on your Amazon Kindle device wherever you go.

Peter do you own an Amazon Kindle? How is it?
Can you put pdf on it as well? or does it have to come from amazon?
I used to Danny but I gave it to my niece as a Christmas present last year because she likes it and also the fact that I barely use it 🙂 You can transfer a pdf file to your kindle but you will not have all reading options available. But you can email it to your kindle and let Amazon convert it for you.
That’s nice of you.
What about the kindle fire? you think that can read pdf without a problem?
Or else I might get an android tablet.
Yes Danny. Kindle Fire displays PDFs natively with built-in PDF reader that allows you to view PDFs without losing any of the original formatting.
I am not interested in Amazon Kindle. BTW thanks for this article. It will really helpful for who want to buy AK.
Thanks peter.
